In a competitive bid process, which took more than 18-months to complete, the Brüel & Kjær EMS Team was chosen to replace the Noise and Flight Track Management System (NFTMS) for the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority. The new 5-year contract includes the installation of 20 new Brüel & Kjær 3639 Noise Monitoring Terminals, backed by Brüel & Kjær’s industry leading Airport Noise and Operations Management System, ANOMS, and WebTrak, the most widely-used public facing flight tracking utility.
“We were more than impressed with Brüel & Kjær’s technology and commitment to the airport noise and flight tracking industry,” said Mark Hardyment, Director of Noise and Environmental Programs at the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority.

“The Authority saw a great advantage in Brüel & Kjær being both the manufacturer of the NMT hardware and software as they were already a world recognised leader in microphone and sound measurement equipment for more than 60 years.”

The project - which kicked-off in November - will last 9 months and includes all permits, hardware installation, conversion of legacy system data, system testing and a year’s warranty on the NFTMS solution. Once complete, the ANOMS System will be supported by Brüel & Kjær’s local and global NoiseOffice Support Team which manages more than 250 airport NFTMS solutions worldwide.

“The replacement with ANOMS marks the end of an era for the airport and the start of improved management of noise abatement policy and greater community engagement, states Robert Brodecky, Vice President for Brüel & Kjær EMS, USA. “We worked very hard in providing the Airport Authority the most advanced and accurate flight tracking and noise monitoring solutions representing the very best value for money. We are thrilled to be a part of this renowned noise and environmental management program, and we look forward to working with Bob Hope Airport for the next 20 years.”
