Avnet Memec unveils new products and new franchises at Electronica 2010
Avnet Memec is using the 2010 Electronica exhibition to celebrate five years in the industry, by introducing a range of new products from its specialist semiconductor franchises. Displays on the company’s stand Hall 5/476 include the world debut of a motor control board from key franchise Actel, MCUs from recently-signed Energy Micro, and analogue devices from its new Intersil linecard.
The new motor control board is the centre piece of four areas that will exhibit the latest Avnet Memec solutions: processors, MCUs & FPGAs; analogue & power ICs; wired communication & timing; and wireless technologies. In addition, a sophisticated Märklin model railway will be running on the stand to demonstrate versatility and performance of manufacturers across the Avnet Memec portfolio, including Silicon Labs, Allegro Microsystems, Maxim, Marvell and Silicon Labs.
The microcontroller demo station will showcase Energy Micro’s complete range of ultra-low-power EFM32 Gecko microcontroller products, for which Avnet Memec became pan-European distributor in March. Also on display will be the new Actel board, which enables designers to rapidly address the need for sophisticated, cost-effective, high-efficiency DC motor control. Avnet Memec was awarded Actel’s “European Distributor of the Year” accolade in March 2010.
Among the analogue and power ICs at Electronica, Intersil is a newcomer to the Avnet Memec fold, following the pan-European distribution agreement announced in September. The analogue/power demo station will feature its proven technical solutions including efficient Li-ion battery chargers and a new compact, lower-power 12-bit 500Msample/s AD converter chip.
The wireless solutions demonstration features another recent franchise for Avnet Memec – Laird Technologies. Laird’s wireless M2M and telematics solutions including ZigBee®, Bluetooth®, WiFi and proprietary radio modules, are demonstrated alongside franchises such as Triquint, Sierra, Nordic Semiconductor and Wi2Wi.
The wired solutions area will feature a range of semiconductor and subsystems, including products from specialist suppliers like Marvell, PLX and Zarlink, as well as those from broad-spectrum semiconductor manufacturers.
Avnet Memec ‘s team of applications engineers will be available to meet customers throughout Electronica 2010, on Hall A5/476 in the New Munich Trade Fair.
