Avnet Silica has added sister company Avnet ASIC Solutions to its line-up of standard services in EMEA opening the way for customers from SMEs to OEMs to follow a path from design through to manufacture. The business has been built around a 40-strong design team based in Israel and headed by Yulia Milshtein, Director of Operations and Business Development.

“We offer a one stop shop,” she says, “from specification, through register transfer level, testing, characterisation and qualification. We can help customers optimise their solutions, reducing unit cost, power, footprint and protect their IP.”

The company will support customers with their own in-house design team and those with a full outsource design requirement.

According to Transparency Market Research, the ASICs market is projected to grow 8.4% CAGR by 2026.

Depending on chip complexity Milshtein estimated tome to prototype from the design start at 12 months and a further six months to full manufacturing.

There is a minimum volume requirement given the costs of ASIC development which can start at $100,000 and scale up.

Avnet ASIC Solutions was founded 30 years ago and has racked up more than 350 projects.

Its experience covers all markets including the traditional industrial, aerospace and defence, consumer, medical and automotive applications alongside newer markets in artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, digital communications and blockchain.

Avnet ASIC Solutions has strong relationships with all of the leading foundries including: Samsung, Socionext, TSMC, GlobalFoundries, STMicroelectronics, and X-FAB.

Most process are covered including 7nm EUV for digital, analogue or mixed-signal designs. End of life pin compatible replacements for legacy standard-cell ASIC, gate-array ASIC, or FPGA technologies with 5V or 3.3V/5V core voltages are also available.
