Arrow seals EMEA deal with GaN Systems
Arrow Electronics has signed up to supply GaN Systems’ range of GaN (gallium nitride) transistors in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). GaN Systems’GaN power semiconductors offer high efficiency, small assizes and open up opportunities in applications from electric vehicles and renewable energy to industrial motor drives and consumer electronics.
GaN technology allows for efficient power conversion in the creation and production of power systems. Use of GaN impacts not only the power transistor but also overall product design.
It helps decrease costs around other system components including capacitors, cooling, heat sinks and inductors. This can result in reliable power systems that can reach one quarter the size and weight they would otherwise be and benefit from similar efficiency savings.
GaN Systems produces 100V and 650V transistor product families, enabling users to address challenging power engineering requirements.
Commenting on the agreement, Tony Astley, director EMEA Sales at GaN Systems said, “This agreement further extends customer access and support to our industry-leading capabilities in power GaN transistors. As the demand for GaN technology grows worldwide, Arrow’s extensive power team that combines technical and commercial experience provides the perfect platform for bringing GaN Systems’ innovative technology to engineers in EMEA.”
Matthias Hutter, vice president of product management and supplier marketing, EMEA at Arrow Electronics, added, “For some applications, engineers need to look beyond established solutions if they are to create ground-breaking products. GaN technology can deliver significant efficiency savings and GaN Systems offers a range of products to help make this happen.”
