Altium Limited has announced that its unified electronic product development solution - Altium Designer 6 - has been nominated as a finalist in the International Engineering Consortium's (IEC) DesignVision Awards program which recognizes technologies, applications, products, and services judged to be the most 'unique and beneficial' to the industry.
Altium Designer is forging new territory in electronics design flows by opening up the benefits of 'soft' design to all engineers, enabling them to harness the potential of hardware programmability for both product design and delivery. It does this by unifying the different design disciplines

involved in electronics product development - the design of the hardware, the programmable hardware and the embedded software - in a single 'concept-to-manufacture' development environment. This means that all designers and companies involved in electronic product development can use

programmable device technology to break down the barriers between hardware and software by allowing the system's intelligence to encompass not only software running on a processor, but dedicated 'soft' hardware developed in parallel with the software.

We are very excited by the market recognition Altium Designer is receiving, commented Nick Martin, Founder and CEO, Altium Limited. Altium Designer is the realization of our company's long-held vision for an alternative to expensive, difficult-to-use and poorly integrated electronics design tools. Our new unified design paradigm means the vast majority of engineers: whether it's your board-level designer, your system designer or your embedded software developer, now have easy access to the

benefits of 'soft' system design - benefits which are key for remaining innovative and competitive in a global business environment.

Winners of the IEC DesignVision Awards will be announced at the DesignCon 2007 Conference in Santa Clara, California, on Tuesday, January 30.
