Advances in Enclosure Design To feature at UK Technology Conference

The UK Device Developers’ Conference is a free one-day event for engineers and computer scientists working in the field of intelligent systems and device development, often referred to as embedded engineering.

“Embedded, refers to the fact that intelligent devices mostly have a microprocessor embedded within their circuitry,” said Richard Blackburn, Event Organiser. “Enclosure design is a big issue for this industry, whether it is a mobile phone or even a washing machine, the casing has a big impact on its ease of assembly, its performance in the field and whether people find it attractive.”

The exhibitors in this field will include Smartboxx, Cove Industries, Escatec and Cambridge Design Partnership. Smartboxx will be available to discuss their innovative approach to the rapid prototyping of plastic enclosures and Cambridge Design Partnership will be presenting “Product Design Process for An Electronics Enclosure” based on their considerable experience and success in this sector.

“Every embedded system requires a casing or enclosure of some kind,” said Richard Blackburn. “So, I am very pleased to have this level of expertise available to delegates at the event. With 3D CAD, simulation tools, Finite Element Analysis, 3D printing and photo-realistic modeling, this aspect of the design process has made huge leaps in recent years. This will be a chance for engineers to explore new developments.”

The Device Developers’ Conference will include a vendor exhibition, a series of technical presentations and a series of half-day workshops. This event is free to engineers and managers in the technical sector, although there will be a small charge for places on the workshops. Places at each event are limited, so engineers are encouraged to register for the event in good time.

A key feature of the Device Developers' Conference is that it is a single day event, which takes place in three locations. This enables engineers to attend with the minimal of travel time and expense. Another key feature is the ½-day technology workshop schedule that enables engineers to receive hands-on training from industry experts.

The half-day workshops at this event will include ‘An Introduction to Advanced Debugging Techniques’, ‘An Introduction to Device Driver Development’ and ‘Getting to Grips with the new MISRA C:2012 Standard’.

Presentation titles include ‘Managing The Commercial Use of Linux’ and ‘Developing Device Drivers for Embedded Systems’.
