MEMPHIS Electronic reveal industry’s first lead-free DRAM modules
MEMPHIS Electronic is introducing a full range of completely lead-free memory modules ranging from the first DDR1 generation to the latest DDR5 generation at embedded world 2024 in hall 1, booth 340.
With this new product range, MEMPHIS brings peace of mind to manufacturers of long-life electronic products as they don’t have to rely on extensions of the exemption clauses to the RoHS directive.
Most memory modules use components containing lead and hence must rely on the exemption 7c-I to the RoHS directive. The industry is working tirelessly to reduce the use of harmful substances in semiconductor memory. However, advancements usually are implemented in the latest technologies only.
As a memory competence centre, MEMPHIS Electronic is focused on providing memory know-how as well as memory products to industrial customers and takes a more holistic approach with its latest self-configured lead-free DRAM modules. As a starting point, MEMPHIS provides DRAM modules at both ends of the spectrum with the industry’s first lead-free DDR1 module that is available today and its DDR5 module that is sampling now. DDR2, DDR3 and DDR4 modules will follow in the course of the year to complete the product range.
“With over 30 years of memory expertise and competence, we are on the pulse of the memory demands of our customers,” explained Marco Mezger, President of MEMPHIS Electronic. “Our industrial customers require longevity products, but with ever stricter regulations it’s only a matter of time before extensions to existing regulations are running out. With our new lead-free product range, our customers literally can have the cake and eat it.”
