Rohde & Schwarz has signed an agreement with China Mobile Research Institute to cooperate on the evolution from 4G towards 5G within the China Mobile 5G Innovation Centre project. As a new partner of the 5G Innovation Centre, Rohde & Schwarz will actively accelerate the progress of 5G standardisation and its infrastructure and foster 4G+/5G innovations for test solutions and industry ecosystem support.

Rohde & Schwarz says it is committed to promote the open laboratories (open labs) set up by China Mobile and other project members in order to provide the platforms for collaboration on innovative products and applications.

The company is already supporting the wireless communications industry with 5G test solutions for generation and analysis of broadband signals in the mm wave range and 5G air interface candidates as well as channel sounding and antenna characterisation.

It is an active participant in many 5G initiatives of universities, consortiums and operators around the globe.

The China Mobile 5G Innovation Centre project was officially launched at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona. The core of the project is the win-win cooperation with appealing 5G industry partners.

The Centre aims to conduct joint innovation on applications and products in areas as basic communication capability, IoT, car networking, industrial internet, cloud robotics and virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR), through open labs, and thus build an integrated cross-industry ecosystem.

Partners: Huang Yuhong, Secretary-General of Global TD-LTE Initiative(GTI), Deputy General Manager, China Mobile Research Institue, China Mobile, and Christian Leicher, President and COO of Rohde & Schwarz, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
